Just a few days ago we blogged about the facebook application to remove ten friends on facebook, and get a free whopper.Well facebook disabled the whopper application that notifies the user stating that it was in the name of privacy because the app sent a message to the user telling them they got the ax.233,906 friends were removed by 82,771 people in less than a week. Now that is marketing genius on Burger Kings part and complete ignorance on facebooks part for removing it because a notification just helped to send the application viral. You still can remove ten friends for a whopper it just will not send the notification.
So do you have any thoughts on this marketing blunder by facebook?

I just think it's sadly funny that anyone would remove ten friends just to get a whopper.
Well since I didn't have friends on there yet, now I will never know. It seems a very bad move on facebook's part. Then again, there are a few other things that bother me about that site.
Oh well, so much for my whopper goals..
I thought the promotion was great. To bad I do not eat Burger King or I would have ditched 10.
I wish they would have a promotion for a give away if you stop sending all those silly app items. =)
Facebook should have left the you got axed message. I think people have a right to know that they have been traded in.
