Yahoo's online storage space will be closing it's doors on March 30th.
Users of the free service, which lets people upload files as big as 5MB and organize them in folders, are being greeted by a message that says they have to download or delete their files by March 30. After that, the accounts will be closed and files deleted.
Other services, such as Yahoo Mail and Flickr, offer far greater storage capacity, and the use of Briefcase has fallen in recent years, the company said. The move will help it to focus on services that are more widely used, according to Yahoo.

It appears that Yahoo has appointed Carol Bartz as the new ceo of yahooBartz was pretty much already running the company since Jerry Yang stepped down so we will have to see if she now takes yahoo in a new direction.
According to chairman Roy Bostock Bartz was the only person offered the job.
So do you have any input on the choice of Bartz for the new job.Myself I think they made the right choice by placing someone from within that already knows just what is going on at yahoo.

This morning at the Intel Developer Forum, Intel and Yahoo announced a joint initiative to bring Internet widgets to TV. The two companies are teaming up in an effort they believe may help jump-start the nascent living-room-web market, which up to this point has seen a lot of products, but very little consumer adoption.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the announcement is the insistence by both companies that OEMs who sign up to put the widget channel (Intel’s name for the product) on their box must offer the consumer access to all of the widgets in the gallery. The gallery, which will be managed by Yahoo, will offer services by any company that uses the widget platform. Conceptually, it’s hard to get one’s mind around the concept of having a service provider set-top box that offers a whole host of widgets to stream third-party web services, but conceivably that’s a scenario that could be realized.

Here's a number to chew on as Yahoo finishes out its earnings week and faces a Saturday deadline to formally negotiate a merger with Microsoft: 6 percent.

That's how far its shares have fallen since it reported its better-than-expected earnings after the markets closed on Tuesday. Compare that with the Dow and the Nasdaq, which both ended up slightly higher during the same period.

Yahoo has announced that it will begin to use google advertisments on some of its search pages.

"Yahoo will be testing Google's AdSense for Search service, which will deliver relevant ads alongside Yahoo's own natural search results. This is only a limited test, and does not necessarily mean that Yahoo will join the AdSense program," Google spokesman Daniel Rubin said.

The New York Times is reporting that Yahoo intends to join OpenSocial a google lead alliance.
