Remenber just the other day that we where adding meebo to the list of troubled tech companies, well it seems they have came up with a way to generate more revenue to help them out in these troubled times.
Web-based chat and IM company Meebo has announced a few updates to its "Community IM" chat project, which it announced this summer as a means to power live chat features on partner sites. More specifically, there are more partners on board to add to the original eight.
According to CEO and co-founder Seth Sternberg, putting Meebo on partner sites will mean that it has a reach of more than 70 million people worldwide. Eventually, there will be ads placed on the chat app, and revenue will be split between Meebo and the partner in question.
Meebo announces new features and partners
The web IM and chat company, Meebo, just added some very interesting new features. First , they have introduced a developer API for their Meebo Rooms product. This will allow people to integrate a Meebo Room into their own website. Meebo has said that this API will, "...further accelerate the widespread adoption of meebo rooms." Meebo is hoping that website owners will take this as an opportunity to build a community around their site.
Meebo also announced a big win for their new Meebo Network chat and advertising platform. They have signed five major partners, including Revision3, Piczo, RockYou, Social Project, and Tagged. Revision3 has a live feed which features a variety of their shows. Next to the video is a live chat box where people can discuss the shows together. Meebo has said that they will be offering a, "hassle-free revenue stream," on their partners' sites through targeted ad units.
Have a look to see if you can add this to your business in someway...
