According to a blog post over at the Google Docs blog it looks as if a redesign is coming soon.Perhaps they are feeling the heat from the new Microsoft Office 2010 that was just announced earlier this week.
They say we should see a number of small changes over the weeks ahead leading to a shiny new interface.

Bang On ! They are definitely looking at MS Office 2010 as a threat.That's what leading to this change.
I would have to agree 2010 will be much better than google docs in the long run.
I still prefer MS Office compared to Google docs. Well, lets see what Google can offer to topple down MS Office 2010.
