The new digg search is now live, and should have a huge impact on digg usability. The new search will have much more relevant search results along with a left sidebar with key stats by topic.

Some of what digg has to say on the subject.

An apology is due – until today, Digg’s search has been pretty terrible. I’m really excited to announce that our search no longer sucks. In fact, I think it’s awfully good but you should try it out and judge for yourself.

Our primary focus is to give you the best possible stories at the top of the results right away. The first thing you’ll notice is an improved user interface but don’t let that fool you, there are significant improvements under the hood. We weight searches on a number of factors including timeliness, Digg counts, keywords, and others.

You can read the full report from digg here.

    Hey Steven,

I am still pretty ignorant about many things that are available on the web. I see the digg logo on a lot of sites but I don't really understand it. I suppose I can go to digg.com and see what it is all about and go from there. Thanks for the post but it didn't really do anything for me since I know nothing about this tool. Sorry!

I love the stats. I hate that you can't switch back to the old search engine. I found it to be actualy a lot more intuitive.

I enjoyed the old search engine but the new one is a lot better. I know that it's because there's not many search results to go through, but it works better than google as far as I'm concerned.

The thing that annoys me about Digg search, as an internet marketer, (at least I'm honest!) is that you can't seem to search for articles by domain name.

If the Digger happened to use the domain name in the title you're lucky, but most Diggs don't include this. I suppose I better stop moaning about this and hit their use feedback page.

Before we can talk about fixing the Digg-style model, we need to have some agreement about what constitutes a "good" story.

Well i think this is a good move. Digg really needed to improve the search engine.
